The Dallas Cowboys are a team that desperately needs to get back in the win column. After suffering an upset defeat at the hands of the Carolina Panthers in Week 6, the Cowboys hold a 2-3-1 record. If they don’t turn things around soon, they could find themselves in serious trouble.
Thankfully for Dallas, they are set to get a couple of key offensive playmakers back for Week 7. The most notable injury news this week has been CeeDee Lamb’s return from an ankle injury. In addition to Lamb, wide receiver and return specialist KaVontae Turpin is also set to be back on the field.
### KaVontae Turpin Sends Strong Message Ahead of Week 7
After missing the past two games with a foot injury, Turpin made it clear that he’s ready to get back out there with his teammates. There’s no doubt that Lamb’s return is a huge boost for the Cowboys’ offense, especially with Dak Prescott and George Pickens establishing solid rhythm over the past couple of weeks. However, Turpin’s return should not be overlooked.
At his best, Turpin is one of the most lethal kick and punt returners in the league. Beyond special teams, he’s taken on a bigger role in the Cowboys’ offense so far this year. Across his first three NFL seasons, Turpin has earned two Pro Bowl selections and an All-Pro First Team honor, largely due to his explosive return abilities.
While Turpin hasn’t yet recorded a big return this season, he has compensated by stepping up in the passing game. Through four games, he’s caught 11 passes for 159 yards and a touchdown. Although Lamb’s presence may reduce Turpin’s offensive snaps, Turpin will undoubtedly provide a major boost to Dallas’ special teams.
Speaking about his impending return, Turpin expressed confidence in his health, a message that will surely catch the attention of the Cowboys’ Week 7 opponent, the Washington Commanders.
> “I feel good,” Turpin said on Friday. “I feel like I’m back to 100%, no hurting in my toe. I feel good knowing that I can be out there competing with my guys on Sunday.”
### Cowboys Looking to Get Back in the Win Column
It’s been a rocky couple of months for Dallas, especially following the sudden loss of linebacker Micah Parsons, who was traded to the Green Bay Packers right before the start of the 2025 season. While the offense has looked strong throughout six games, the defense has struggled significantly, ranking among the worst units in the league. This has made it difficult for the Cowboys to secure wins.
Moving forward, Dallas will likely need its offense to carry much of the load to earn victories on a regular basis. Taking down the Washington Commanders in Week 7 will not be an easy task, even with Washington’s own injury challenges.
Kickoff for the Week 7 game is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET. You can be sure the Cowboys will be highly motivated to earn their third win of the year.
