Quantic Dream, the studio behind Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human, has confirmed that it’s working on a competitive multiplayer video game. This multiplayer game joins Star Wars: Eclipse as upcoming games currently in development at David Cage’s studio. David Cage himself penned a letter to fans to update them on what’s been going on at Quantic Dream lately. It’s here that he reveals the studio has been working on “a competitive multiplayer experience.” Cage acknowledges that this is a huge departure for his studio, which previously exclusively developed single-player narrative-driven games. “But taking risks, challenging ourselves, exploring new ways of playing and telling stories, and attempting what seems impossible, has always been part of our DNA.” Cage also mentions Star Wars: Eclipse, the upcoming narrative game that was announced back in 2021. While there are no new updates in this letter, Cage confirms that development on the game is still ongoing. Add Quantic Dream to the list of major developers looking to try their hand at the multiplayer genre in this increasingly live service business. Last year saw Rocksteady Games make a similar pivot with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
