How to Get Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charizard in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Pokemon Legends Z-A features the fan-favorite Fire-type Pokémon, Charmander. You can locate Charmander early in the game and then evolve him into Charmeleon and finally, Charizard. In this guide, we’ll explain how you can obtain Charmander, as well as how to evolve him in Pokemon Legends Z-A.
Steps to Unlock Charmander in Pokemon Legends Z-A
To get Charmander, you need to complete the “A Call from Mable” side quest. Follow these steps to finish the quest and unlock Charmander:
- First, complete the Lida fight during the main story mission eight.
- After finishing the battle, visit any Pokémon Center to rest and heal your team.
- Once rested, you will receive a call from Mable inviting you to her office.
- Head to the Pokémon Research Lab located in the southern part of the map, where Mable’s office is.
- Enter Mable’s office, where you will find Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and Charmander standing in a circle.
- Choose the Pokémon you want the most—in this case, select Charmander.
Making your final selection completes the quest and unlocks Charmander for you to use.
Evolution of Charmander
Once you have Charmander, you can evolve him as follows:
- Evolve Charmander into Charmeleon at level 16.
- Eventually evolve Charmeleon into Charizard at level 36.
- There is also a chance to unlock Mega Evolution, allowing Charmander’s final form to transform into Mega Charizard X or Mega Charizard Y.
There are no extra steps required to unlock these evolutions beyond leveling up your Pokémon.
Important Choice in Mable’s Office
The choice you make in Mable’s office is crucial, as it determines which starter Pokémon you obtain at this point in the game. Picking Charmander means you’ll have to let go of Squirtle and Bulbasaur, at least temporarily.
That said, Charizard is a strong and popular choice among players. With well-rounded stats in attack, speed, and special attack, Charizard holds an edge over many other starter Pokémon available in Pokemon Legends Z-A.
