**Policies:**

*Verification of Death:*
To publish obituaries, we require the name and phone number of the funeral home or cremation society handling the arrangements. We will contact them during business hours to verify the death.

If the body of the deceased has been donated to the University of Minnesota Anatomy Bequest Program or a similar program, the contact number for verification is required. Please allow enough time for us to make this contact, especially during their limited weekend hours.

Alternatively, a death certificate can be submitted for verification. Only one of these two verification options is necessary.

*Guestbook and Outside Websites:*
We are not allowed to reference external media sources such as guestbooks or obituaries placed elsewhere when publishing in print and online. However, we may include a website for the funeral home or a family email for contact purposes. Please contact us with any questions regarding this policy.

**Obituary Process:**
Once your submission is complete, we will fax or email a proof for your review prior to publication. The proof will include the price and scheduled run dates. Please review it carefully and notify us of any errors or changes before the notice appears in the Pioneer Press, adhering to each day’s deadlines.

After publication, we cannot assume responsibility for errors that occur after final proofing. Changes to an online obituary can be handled through the obituary desk—call us for assistance.

**Payment Procedure:**
Pre-payment is required prior to publication by the deadline specified below. After you have received and approved the proof, please call 651-228-5263 with your payment information.

**Additional Sports Notes:**

Jaylen Bowden, a cornerback from FCS-level North Carolina Central, joined before spring practice but is still learning the system and needs time to improve consistency before playing in the Big Ten. With Bowden needing more time and having eligibility through 2026 to show growth, the Gophers turned to Jai’Onte’ McMillan when injuries at cornerback stacked up before the Purdue game.

Primarily a nickel back, McMillan played 31 snaps at outside corner and had a vital pass breakup on fourth down that helped seal the win over the Boilermakers. After walking on at TCU and playing three seasons, McMillan is in his second year at Minnesota. “It’s way smoother,” McMillan said about his second go-round. “The first year you have to learn the ins and outs of everything.”

Top wide receiver prospects include Javon Tracy from Miami (Ohio), who is tied for first in receiving yards (253) and ranks second on the team in targets (28), receptions (16), and touchdowns (two).

Running back AJ Turner from Marshall contributed 16 carries for 64 yards and one score before his season ended with a knee injury in the Week 3 loss at California. Turner and Tracy have eligibility beyond 2025.

Tailback Cam Davis (Washington), tight end Drew Biber (Purdue), and receiver Logan Loya (UCLA) have all played more than 100 snaps and had touches but will be done after this fall.

Athletic wideout Malachi Coleman, a Nebraska transfer, received his first target in an FBS game against Purdue. The Lincoln native is still considered raw but has two years left after 2025.

Punter Tom Weston from Division II Ouachita Baptist in Arkansas has been a quality addition with a 45.8-yard average, eight punts inside the 20-yard line, and nine punts traveling more than 50 yards.

Kicker Brady Denaburg has made eight of 11 field goals and has 27 touchbacks on 30 kickoffs but is 1-for-4 on field goals over 40 yards.

Offensive linemen Kahlee Tafai (Washington) and Jaden Ball (Purdue) both have multiple years of eligibility remaining.

Linebacker Jeff Roberson (Oklahoma State) has played 39 fill-in snaps.

Quarterback Emmett Morehead (Old Dominion/Boston College) was brought in to provide veteran experience behind first-year starter Drake Lindsey but currently appears to be fourth on the depth chart behind No. 2 Max Shikenjanski and Dylan Wittke, a second-year transfer from Virginia Tech.
