90 Day Fiancé star Nikki Exotika was hospitalized earlier this week following a “very complicated” breast reconstruction surgery that left her “very weak.” The 49-year-old reality personality, known for her appearance on Season 10 of the TLC hit show, experienced “excessive bleeding” during the procedure, which led to serious complications, according to an update shared by a friend on Instagram Stories.
In a post featuring a photo of Nikki in a hospital bed, the friend wrote, “Nicole had a very complicated surgery today and had excessive bleeding. She’s in recovery now but very weak. She refused a blood transfusion prior to surgery. They are monitoring her overnight at the hospital. I will be taking care of her and will give more updates on her progress as time passes.”
Three hours later, the friend provided another update, revealing that Nikki was “not doing well” as her blood pressure continued to drop. “The only explanation I received was that her blood was very thin, which caused her excessive bleeding during surgery. Her blood pressure keeps dropping to a concerning level, so she is being kept overnight for monitoring,” the update explained.
The friend also shared some details about Nikki’s pre-surgery health, saying, “She admitted to me she took Advil a few days before for her headaches, which contains NSAIDs. She’s very weak.” Despite concerns from family and friends, Nikki refused a blood transfusion. “Her family and I are very worried. Right now, we are just praying she will pull through,” the friend added.
On Wednesday, Nikki’s account shared a more hopeful update. “They are getting ready to discharge her in a few hours. Her vitals have stayed stable since they administered blood pressure medication earlier,” the friend wrote. “Then we should be back at her place.”
“She needs lots of rest,” the update continued. “She woke up to eat a little but then passed out. She is still very weak and in a lot of pain. She is draining a lot of blood from her drains.”
Later that day, Nikki herself posted a message on her Instagram Story, thanking everyone for their “messages of support and prayers.” She explained, “I need a couple of days of rest. I’m very weak and in a lot of pain. I’m still draining a lot of blood after my breast reconstruction surgery.”
Nikki had previously shared details about her ongoing health struggles. In August, she posted a video explaining that she required “a barrage of surgeries” to reconstruct her breasts after suffering a “serious, serious infection” following her last surgery in 2019. Scar tissue formed around her implants, which caused significant pain.
She revealed that she was scheduled to have the painful scar tissue removed in October. “This surgery should’ve been done a few years ago, but I had a lot going on in my life, and now it’s time to take care of it,” Nikki said.
She also mentioned the need to gain weight before her next procedure: “I need to gain 15 pounds because they need to do fat grafting, a capsulectomy, and exchange of implants.”
