**Monster Hunter Wilds x Final Fantasy 14 Collaboration Event: A Partnership Forged in Trust**
These past few weeks have seen an exciting crossover as Capcom and Square Enix launched the *Monster Hunter Wilds x Final Fantasy 14* collaboration event. This unique event brought various Final Fantasy elements to *Monster Hunter Wilds* and vice versa, delighting fans of both franchises.
This isn’t the first time these two giants have teamed up, and the drive to collaborate again started as early as Gamescom 2024. At the event, *Monster Hunter Wilds* Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto, Director Yuya Tokuda, and *Final Fantasy 14* Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida met for a significant discussion about working together once more. That meeting set in motion a new wave of crossover plans that culminated in this year’s collaboration, as shared by the game leads during a roundtable interview at Tokyo Game Show 2025.

### A Collab Made in Mutual Trust
For those unfamiliar, the *Monster Hunter Wilds* Final Fantasy 14 collaboration event launched on September 29, 2025. It introduced a hunt for Omega Planetes along with a storyline connected to its arrival in the game. Players could also enjoy the iconic Dark Knight armor set, the Soul of the Pictomancer, Chocobo and Moogle skins, and even encounter Malboro and Cactuar endemic life.
On the other side, *Final Fantasy 14* released Patch 7.35 on October 6, 2025, featuring an exciting eight-player battle against the formidable Guardian Arkveld in a quest that included a Palico and its Seikret pal. Alongside this, *Monster Hunter* cosmetics for characters and mounts were added, giving FF14 players a taste of the *Monster Hunter* universe.
This rich content sprang from a mutual desire between both development teams to collaborate again, following the success of the *Monster Hunter World x Final Fantasy 14* event back in 2018.

### The Origins of the Partnership
According to Tsujimoto and Yoshida, the foundation for this latest collaboration was laid with the success of the 2018 event and took a more concrete shape during a dinner meeting at Gamescom 2024.
“I’ve known Mr. Yoshida for a very long time,” Tsujimoto said during the roundtable. “I have a great deal of respect for his creativity and commitment as a producer. Our first opportunity to work together was during the original *Monster Hunter World* collaboration. It started casually — just talking about whether there was anything we could do together related to our games. That’s how we ended up doing it.”
He continued, “Last year at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, I had dinner with Mr. Yoshida and my team. We talked about how much fun it was collaborating last time. *Monster Hunter Wilds* wasn’t out yet; we were still showcasing it. We didn’t finalize anything then, but agreed to discuss working together more productively. That discussion led up to Tokyo Game Show later that year, where we set it in stone that we’d be working on something together.”

### A Relationship Built on Support and Respect
Naoki Yoshida shared his views on why working with Capcom’s team was a natural fit.
“Like Tsujimoto said, we’ve known each other a long time,” Yoshida explained. “When I took over *Final Fantasy 14* and started remaking the game, Tsujimoto came to me and asked, ‘Why take on such a crazy plan? This seems huge, but if there’s anything we can do to help, we want to.’ Whether the game succeeded or not, they wanted to support us. This support from the *Monster Hunter* team was critical and the reason *Final Fantasy 14* is where it is today.”

### An Exciting Sequel for Fans of Both Worlds
Clearly, Yoshida’s enthusiasm for collaborating with the *Monster Hunter* team runs deep — and the feeling is mutual at Capcom. With both collaborations now live, both teams hope to spark renewed excitement for *Final Fantasy 14* and *Monster Hunter Wilds*, and perhaps even encourage players to check out each other’s evolving worlds.
Almost all the collaboration content in both games was crafted from the ground up with original designs. Yoshida noted, “There’s only one scene reused from *Final Fantasy 14* involving a character drinking a potion. Everything else was newly created, making this event distinct from the previous *Monster Hunter World* collaboration.”

This collaboration marks another milestone in the strong partnership between Capcom and Square Enix, blending iconic elements from both universes in fresh and exciting ways for players to enjoy. Whether you’re a seasoned hunter or a seasoned adventurer in Eorzea, there’s something special to discover in this crossover event.
