In a recent interview on Bharti TV, singer-actor Aditya Narayan opened up about his childhood and his relationship with his father, veteran singer Udit Narayan. He described Udit as a “strict but loving” parent who disciplined him until he turned 18.

Aditya revealed that due to his father’s busy schedule, they only met for three to four days every month. Despite the limited time, Udit Narayan tried to make every moment count by instilling life lessons and values.

**Discipline: “My dad struck a balance”**

Aditya candidly shared, “My dad gave me a good dose of discipline until I turned 18. He would hit me. I was beaten a lot. But back then, it was almost normal. Among friends, we would even compare who got hit the most. My dad struck a balance; he loved me but also disciplined me. He was very strict.”

This strict upbringing, according to Aditya, was a blend of love and firmness that shaped his early years.

**Unconditional Love: “Dad only got about 3 to 4 days with me”**

He further explained, “Dad only got about three to four days with me every month. So, he felt he had to overcompensate. He would try to fit in all of life’s lessons in those few days. He never praised my achievements. I think it was my search for his validation that pushed me to become who I am today.”

This search for his father’s approval became a motivating factor in Aditya’s personal and professional life.

**Career Journey: Aditya’s Early Start and Education**

Aditya Narayan began his career as a child artist at the age of five. His big break came with the 1998 movie *Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai*. Impressively, he used the earnings from that film to fund his education until he eventually moved to London for higher studies.

While Udit Narayan was reportedly unaware of when Aditya finished school, he did support his son financially for his education in London, highlighting a complex but supportive father-son relationship.

Aditya’s story sheds light on the dynamics of growing up under a strict yet loving parent, navigating limited time together, and finding motivation in the quest for approval—all of which contributed to his growth as an artist and individual.
