In a recent interview on Bharti TV, singer-actor Aditya Narayan candidly shared insights about his childhood and his relationship with his father, veteran singer Udit Narayan. Describing Udit as a “strict but loving” parent, Aditya revealed how discipline played a significant role during his formative years.
**A Father’s Discipline and Love**
Aditya reflected on the strict upbringing he experienced until the age of 18. “My dad gave me a good dose of discipline until I turned 18. He would hit me. I was beaten a lot. But back then, it was almost normal. Among friends, we would even compare who got hit the most,” he shared. He added, “My dad struck a balance; he loved me but also disciplined me. He was very strict.”
Despite the strictness, there was a clear sense of love underlying the discipline. Aditya explained that Udit’s busy schedule meant they only spent limited time together each month, which created a unique dynamic in their relationship.
**Limited Time Together**
“Dad only got about three to four days with me every month,” Aditya revealed. “So, he felt he had to overcompensate. He would try to fit in all of life’s lessons in those few days. He never praised my achievements. I think it was my search for his validation that pushed me to become who I am today.”
**Career Beginnings and Education**
Starting his career as a child artist at the tender age of five, Aditya got his big break in the 1998 film *Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai*. He prudently used the money earned from the film to fund his education. Later, he moved to London for higher studies.
Interestingly, while Udit Narayan was not fully aware of when Aditya finished school, he eventually supported and paid for his son’s education in London, demonstrating his commitment despite their busy lives.
