Shack Chat: What was your favorite announcement from TGS 2025?

As Tokyo Game Show 2025 winds down, it’s time to decide our favorite reveals from a packed week of showcases. From Sony’s State of Play to Kojima’s special event, this week was brimming with exciting gaming news. Here’s what our team loved most from TGS 2025.

### Forza Horizon 6
**Ozzie Mejia, Senior Scenic Route Taker**
This one is bittersweet given some of the ruthless cuts Microsoft has made on the sister series Forza Motorsport and developer Turn 10 Studios. That said, I’m fascinated by the Japan location for *Forza Horizon 6*. I haven’t been to Japan much—it’s an expensive vacation—so I don’t expect to travel there anytime soon. I’m happy to live vicariously through this game and explore Japan’s streets and countryside virtually.

### Rhythm Doctor Release Date
**Asif Khan, Purveyor of Fine Electronic Music**
Sometimes really cool indie games slip by me during coverage, and *Rhythm Doctor* was one of those gems. This delightful trailer popped up in the middle of what was otherwise a lackluster Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2025 Broadcast (airing at a very inconvenient time EST). A rhythm game built around one button with a psychedelic art style is exactly my vibe. Amid a week of AAA trailers, the *Rhythm Doctor* release date announcement truly stood out. I’m all in, though I’ll likely play it on PC—because frankly, my Xbox Series X is more of a glorified heat shield strategically placed between my Switch 2 and PS5.

### Wolverine Release Date
**Bill Lavoy, Shackmaps Overlord**
I’m not typically into superhero games, but *Wolverine* looks like a lot of fun. Insomniac Games has been on a roll, consistently delivering games that shine on PlayStation hardware. This looks like another perfect storm for Sony and Insomniac, and I’m ready to jump in when it releases in the Fall 2026 season.

### Saros
**Sam Chandler, Rahul Kohli Stan**
I didn’t play much of *Returnal* at launch, but after seeing more of *Saros*, I’m excited to dive in as soon as it releases. I’m not the greatest at roguelikes, so hopefully my shooter skills can help me survive. I also love how Housemarque has shifted from *Returnal*’s cool cyan environments to the warmer, orange hues shown in the new gameplay trailer. Plus, Rahul Kohli is a great guy, so that’s an added bonus!

### Ghost Rider Gameplay in *Marvel Tokon*
**TJ Denzer, Reporting Live from TGS 2025**
I’ve got a bit of an edge this week because I’m actually on the floor here in Japan covering Tokyo Game Show 2025 (hello from Japan!). At this year’s show, Arc System Works, Sony, and Marvel gave us the first chance to play *Spider-Man* and *Ghost Rider* in *Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls*. Spider-Man is great—he basically has *Maximum Spider* from Marvel vs. Capcom—but I’ve been a big fan of Robbie Reyes as Ghost Rider since *Midnight Suns*. *Marvel Tokon* made him awesome, letting him lock down mid-range with his chains and build a Vengeance gauge that strengthens his attacks as he uses specials—though if he pushes it too far, he risks burning out. His ultimate skill calls in his hellish hot rod to run over opponents with blazing speed and hellfire. Honestly, out of all the characters so far, Ghost Rider’s fiery, wild style fits me best. I think he’s just locked in as one of my mains.

### Forza Horizon Finally Goes to Japan
**Donovan Erskine, Pro Driver**
*Forza Horizon* heading to Japan felt like one of those video game dreams that seemed too cool to be real. Even when leaks started pointing toward it, I was doubtful we’d actually get to race through the streets of Tokyo and Japan’s countryside. I couldn’t be happier to be wrong! This is probably going to be my most-played game in the series once it’s all said and done.

### C. Viper Street Fighter 6 Gameplay Reveal
**Dennis White Jr., Wishes He Looked That Good in a Suit**
We finally got a real look at C. Viper in action this week during Capcom’s Special Presentation. She looks amazing! I was worried they might tone down her feint options and other major tools, but with a parry system built into *Street Fighter 6*, they seem to be embracing her technical playstyle, giving her both new and old tools to go wild with. With solid range attacks and tricky mix-up potential, I can already see her becoming a problem in the competitive scene. She’s stylish and fun to play, so I’m eager to get my hands on her when she launches on October 15th.

### Demi and the Fractured Dream
**Steve Tyminski, Too Many Favorites to Choose From**
Choosing a single favorite reveal from TGS was tough—there are so many games I’m interested in this year! Seeing more of *The Adventure of Elliot* from Square Enix was great; the demo was fun and hinted at the game’s scope, and hands-on time always reveals more details.

Also announced this week was the *Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection.* Though I’ve never played these *Mega Man* titles, being a huge fan of the franchise means I’ll definitely check it out.

Annapurna’s *Demi and the Fractured Dream* caught my eye immediately. It’s described as a love letter to 3D *Legend of Zelda* games, so I’m sold. I’m also looking forward to *Chrono Ark* coming to Nintendo Switch; I’ve been waiting for that since the Steam release.

Finally, we got more info on *Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment*. While I’m not the biggest fan of the Warriors series, *Zelda* games like this usually nail storytelling and push system capabilities.

To recap, many games at TGS 2025 caught my attention, but if I had to pick one, it’s *Demi and the Fractured Dream.* It was a game I didn’t know about before, and now I want to learn more and play it. That said, I’m equally excited about the others on my list, with a special shout-out to *Mega Man* finally getting something new—even if it’s a collection.

Those were our favorite games from Tokyo Game Show 2025. What were yours? Sound off in the Chatty!
