The New York Giants have announced a change at the kicker position for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers. Veteran kicker Graham Gano has been placed on injured reserve due to a groin injury he sustained last week. This move means Gano will be sidelined for at least four weeks.
To fill the vacancy, the Giants have activated Jude McAtamney from their practice squad. McAtamney has limited NFL experience, having played in one game for the Giants last year when he was temporarily promoted from the practice squad. In that appearance, he successfully converted an extra point and a field goal.
Currently, the Giants have two kickers on their practice squad: Jude McAtamney and Younghoe Koo. However, the team has decided that McAtamney is better prepared to handle the kicking duties for this Sunday’s matchup.
In addition to the changes at kicker, the Giants have strengthened their roster by signing linebacker Tomon Fox and defensive lineman Elijah Garcia from the practice squad to the 53-player roster. The team also elevated another linebacker to the active roster for Sunday’s game.
These roster adjustments reflect the Giants’ efforts to stay competitive as they face the Chargers this weekend.
