**Mumbai: Drug Peddler Attacks Sakinaka Police Team, Injures Two Officers**
A drug peddler allegedly attacked a Sakinaka police team with a knife on Wednesday, resulting in injuries to two police personnel. The accused, identified as 27-year-old Akin Khan, also attempted to harm himself but was apprehended by the police.
**Incident Details**
The confrontation took place on September 24 at around 8 pm. According to police sources, the Sakinaka police had earlier cracked down on a drug manufacturing ring, demolishing two factories in Palghar and Karnataka in July 2025. Eight accused were arrested and goods worth Rs 390 crore were seized. Khan is believed to be associated with this gang.
Acting on information that Khan might enter the DN Nagar police jurisdiction, officers laid a trap near Patre Wali Chawl and Farukhiya Masjid in the Subway area of Andheri West. When police attempted to arrest him, Khan allegedly brandished a knife and threatened the officers. Despite their efforts, he attacked the team.
During the scuffle, Sub-Inspector Shahikant Patil (51) and Constable Pankaj Pardeshi (38) sustained minor injuries. The DN Nagar police have registered a case against Khan under the BNS Act. Following his arrest, the court has remanded him to police custody until October 10.
