Masked raiders stage armed robbery at jewellery shop

At least two dozen people wearing masks—and some carrying pick axes and handguns—smashed jewelry cases and made off with bags full of items during a robbery at a San Francisco Bay Area store, authorities said.

Video from the robbery in California on Monday shows a stream of masked individuals entering the shop and using pick axes to crack glass cases and clear them out.

The store’s doors locked after the robbers entered, due to security measures installed following a previous robbery. Police reported that at least one of the suspects fired a handgun at the door in order to escape.

Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident.

The robbers fled to cars waiting in a nearby parking lot, according to the San Ramon Police Department. Officers tracked the vehicles from the air and were able to arrest several suspects.

In a statement posted on social media, Heller Jewellers expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support since the robbery and announced plans to reopen on Saturday.
