**Trump Says Ukraine, Backed by EU, Can Fight and Win Against Russia**
Former U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Ukraine, supported by the European Union, is now in a position to fight and win the war against Russia.
Writing on Truth Social on Tuesday, Trump said, “After getting to know and fully understand the Ukraine/Russia military and economic situation, and after seeing the economic trouble it is causing Russia, I think Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is in a position to fight and WIN all of Ukraine back in its original form.”
This post came shortly after Trump’s meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
Previously, Trump had suggested that Ukraine might need to give up some of its territory to secure a peace deal with Russia. However, he expressed frustration with Russian President Vladimir Putin over his resistance to peace talks, according to CNN.
Trump criticized Russia’s prolonged conflict, stating, “Russia has been fighting aimlessly for three and a half years — a war that should have taken a real military power less than a week to win. This is not distinguishing Russia; in fact, it is very much making them look like a paper tiger.”
He further elaborated on the situation inside Russia, mentioning the hardships Russian citizens face due to the war economy. “When the people living in Moscow, and all of the great cities, towns, and districts throughout Russia find out what is really going on with this war — the fact that it’s almost impossible for them to get gasoline through the long lines that are forming, and all of the other issues — where most of their money is being spent on fighting Ukraine, which has great spirit and is only getting better — Ukraine would be able to take back their country in its original form and, who knows, maybe even go further than that!”
Trump emphasized Russia’s economic troubles, stating, “Putin and Russia are in BIG economic trouble, and this is the time for Ukraine to act.”
He also pledged to continue supplying weapons to NATO, affirming, “NATO could do what they want with them.”
Following the meeting with Trump, President Zelenskyy described the talks as positive. Speaking to Ukrainian public broadcaster Suspilne, he said, “Today’s meeting was very good. It’s too early to talk about any specific elements of the meeting — a little later.”

**Olena Zelenska Urges Action for Return of Ukrainian Children Taken to Russia**
At the United Nations General Assembly, Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska called on the international community to do more to bring home Ukrainian children who have been taken to Russia since Moscow launched its unprovoked full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
Zelenska warned that at the current rate, it would take 50 years for all Ukrainian children taken to Russia to return home. She added that through efforts by an international coalition of 41 countries and the Council of Europe, 1,625 children have been returned to Ukraine so far, according to CNN.

**European Commission President Discusses Russian Incursions with U.S. President**
Earlier in the day, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said she discussed Russia’s “regular incursions” into European airspace with the U.S. President.
“We discussed Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine,” von der Leyen said in a post on X. “We also addressed the Kremlin’s provocations, including regular incursions into European airspace.”
She pointed out that these incursions were clear attempts to test Europe’s response.
“Europe is speeding up its defence efforts to strengthen its Eastern flank,” she added. “It must act as a shield for both Europe and NATO.”
