SKODA has expanded its flagship SUV lineup with the launch of a new entry-level variant, the Kodiaq Lounge. Priced at ₹39.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the Lounge offers a five-seat configuration coupled with unique styling elements. With a refreshed features list compared to its higher-spec counterparts, this variant presents a more affordable option for buyers seeking luxury without breaking the bank.
Variant Details
The Kodiaq Lounge is positioned as the new base variant below the Sportline and Laurin & Klement (L&K) trims. Unlike the standard seven-seat setup, this model features seating for five passengers, which significantly enhances boot space from 281 liters (when all three rows are up in seven-seaters) to a spacious 786 liters.
Design Elements
The Kodiaq Lounge sports 18-inch Mazeno alloy wheels and matte dark chrome inserts, available in three exterior colors: Moon White, Magic Black, and Graphite Gray. Inside, the cabin features grey Suedia fabric upholstery complemented by a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel.
Premium features such as a panoramic sunroof, a 10.4-inch virtual cockpit display, and a three-zone climate control system are also included, delivering comfort and convenience on every journey.
Performance and Safety
Under the hood, the SUV is powered by a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 204 horsepower. This engine is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system, ensuring good traction across diverse terrains.
Safety remains a priority with nine airbags, ABS, ESC, EBD, hill-hold control, and hill-descent control. The vehicle also features full-LED lighting, smart dials, and multiple USB-C ports to enhance the driving experience.
Market Positioning
The Kodiaq Lounge sits ₹3.77 lakh cheaper than the Sportline variant and ₹5.97 lakh more affordable than the Laurin & Klement trim. It competes in the Indian market against models like the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line, Hyundai Tucson, and Citroen C5 Aircross.
With this new variant, SKODA is making luxury SUVs more accessible without significantly compromising on safety or comfort, offering buyers a compelling choice in the premium SUV segment.
