The Kolkata Police have filed a chargesheet in the South Calcutta Law College rape case, with DNA evidence linking the prime accused, Monojit “Mango” Mishra, to the crime. Mishra, an alumnus of the college, along with three others, has been named in the chargesheet submitted to the Court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Alipore.

According to the police, DNA test results from samples collected from the survivor’s clothes matched those of Mishra, strengthening the case against him.

### Evidence Expansion

The chargesheet also includes crucial CCTV footage obtained from the college premises as well as two nearby shops. This footage confirmed that the crime occurred inside the guard’s room on campus. It further showed the presence of the other accused, Pramit Mukherjee and Zaib Ahmed, standing outside the guard’s room along with a security guard.

A police officer told PTI, “The role of the other two accused and also that of the security guard could be seen.”

### Ongoing Investigation

Investigators are currently awaiting the results of voice sample analysis extracted from the accused’s mobile phones. A police officer stated, “Once the results are delivered, a supplementary chargesheet will be filed in court.”

This case surfaced after a first-year student alleged that she was gang-raped on June 25 by Mishra and two senior students of the college. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to bring all involved to justice.
