MANILA, Philippines — Bulgaria reached the Top 8 for the first time in 15 years after ousting Portugal in the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship on Monday at Mall of Asia Arena.
The Bulgarian team secured a straight-set victory with scores of 25-19, 25-23, 25-13.
Leading their historic run were brothers Aleksandar and Moni Nikolov, who played pivotal roles in Bulgaria’s advancement to the quarterfinal round.
