**Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has strongly criticized the United States President Donald Trump’s recent order imposing a $100,000 one-time fee on H-1B visa applications.**

The new order, announced on September 20, imposes a hefty fee on new H-1B visa applicants. Reddy described the move as “totally unacceptable,” especially given the longstanding Indo-American relations.

He urged Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to take immediate and effective action to protect Indian tech workers affected by this policy.

### Urgent Call for Indian Government Action

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Revanth Reddy expressed his shock over the executive orders issued by the President of the United States. He emphasized the historic ties between India and America and stressed the need for the Indian government to establish a mechanism to address this issue amicably.

Reddy highlighted the importance of safeguarding the interests of India’s skilled workforce, many of whom have contributed significantly to the American tech industry over the years.

### Details of the New $100,000 Fee

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) clarified that the $100,000 fee applies **only to new H-1B visa applicants.** Petitions filed before September 21, 2025, are exempt from this additional charge.

Joseph B. Edlow, Director of USCIS, stated in a memorandum that beneficiaries of petitions filed prior to the effective date, as well as currently approved petitions, would not be subjected to the new fee.

### Official Confirmation from the White House

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the details of the H-1B visa fee policy. She reiterated that the fee is a one-time charge applicable exclusively to new visa applications. Renewals and current H-1B visa holders, including those outside the United States, will not be affected by this new fee.

**The new H-1B visa fee has sparked concern among the Indian tech community and political leaders, with calls for swift diplomatic measures to protect the interests of skilled Indian workers in the US.**
