Jordan Davis seals Eagles’ 33-26 thrilling win over Rams with Philly’s 2nd blocked FG of 4th quarter

Davis blocked a field-goal attempt by the Rams’ Joshua Karty on the final play of the game and returned it 61 yards for a touchdown — the Eagles’ second blocked kick of the fourth quarter — to secure an exhilarating 33-26 victory over Los Angeles.

The Rams (2-1) led 26-21 midway through the fourth quarter when Jalen Carter blocked Karty’s 36-yard try. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts then led the Super Bowl champions (3-0) on a 17-play, 91-yard drive resulting in the go-ahead score.

With 1:48 left on the clock, Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford guided Los Angeles into position for Karty’s 44-yard field goal attempt with just 3 seconds remaining. But Davis broke through the line, knocked the ball down, scooped it up, and rumbled to the end zone. His teammates mobbed him as fans at Lincoln Financial Field erupted in celebration of the Eagles’ 12th straight home victory.

Philadelphia struggled through a lackluster first half and trailed 26-7 in the third quarter after Stafford’s second touchdown pass of the game. Karty had already kicked four field goals for the Rams, who lost a tight NFC divisional-round playoff game to the Eagles last season.

Enter Super Bowl MVP Hurts and an outstanding special teams effort. The Eagles found their momentum and made clutch plays when Carter—recently fined by the NFL for an opening-night spitting incident—came up with the first blocked kick of the quarter. However, Carter was flagged for taunting, pushing the Eagles back to their own 9-yard line.

On the go-ahead drive, Hurts shook off his earlier struggles and connected with receivers who had been largely ignored during the first two and a half games of the season. He completed a 25-yard pass to A.J. Brown, followed by a 10-yard connection to DeVonta Smith. Then came the big play—Brown evaded a defender for a 23-yard gain. Hurts found Smith again for the go-ahead 4-yard touchdown on fourth-and-goal, completing Philadelphia’s rally from a 19-point deficit.

**What happened to Saquon?**

Saquon Barkley had shined in previous matchups against the Rams, running for Eagles records of 255 yards last November— including scores of 70 and 72 yards—and added touchdown runs of 78 and 62 yards during the playoff rematch on a 205-yard day.

However, Barkley struggled Sunday, rushing for only 13 yards in the first half and finishing with 46 yards on the day. This marks his third straight subpar game after a season in which he rushed for 2,005 yards. He had totaled 148 yards through the first two games of this season.

**A Note to Black Gen Z Job Hunters**

If you’ve found job hunting more halting and frustrating than expected, you’re not alone. Unemployment rates for Black/African American youth in Philadelphia remain higher than other racial and age groups.
