Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has strongly criticized the recent order issued by United States President Donald Trump regarding H-1B visas. The new directive imposes a hefty one-time fee of $100,000 on H-1B visa applications, a move Reddy describes as “totally unacceptable,” especially considering the historical and ongoing Indo-American relations.

Speaking out on Saturday, September 20, Reddy urged the Indian government, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, to take immediate and effective measures to protect Indian tech workers affected by this policy.

**Urgent Call for Indian Government Action**

In a post on the social media platform X, Reddy expressed his concern:
*”The executive orders of the President of America had come as a shocker to all. This is totally unacceptable in the historical context of Indo-American relationships.”*

He emphasized the necessity for the Indian government to establish a dedicated mechanism to resolve this issue amicably, ensuring the welfare of the Indian tech population and skilled workers who have significantly contributed to the U.S. technology sector over the years.

**Details of the New H-1B Visa Fee**

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has clarified that this $100,000 fee applies **only to new H-1B visa applicants**. Petitions submitted before September 21, 2025, are exempt from the fee.

Joseph B. Edlow, Director of USCIS, stated in an official memorandum that the proclamation does not affect beneficiaries of petitions filed prior to the effective date, nor does it impact currently approved petitions.

**Official Confirmation from White House**

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed these details, underscoring that the fee is a one-time cost applicable exclusively to new visa applications. It does **not** apply to visa renewals or current H-1B visa holders. Additionally, the fee will not be imposed on H-1B visa holders residing outside the United States.

Telangana CM Revanth Reddy’s remarks reflect growing concern within India’s political and tech communities regarding recent U.S. immigration policies affecting Indian professionals. The coming weeks may see heightened diplomatic discussions between the two countries as they navigate the implications of this new order.
