Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has strongly criticized the recent order by United States President Donald Trump concerning H-1B visas. The new directive imposes a hefty one-time fee of $100,000 on H-1B visa applications, a move Reddy described as “totally unacceptable” given the longstanding Indo-American relationship.

### CM Revanth Reddy’s Response

Speaking out on Saturday, September 20, Reddy expressed his concerns over the impact of the fee on Indian tech professionals. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he stated, “The executive orders of President of America had come as a shocker to all. This is totally unacceptable in the historical context of Indo-American relationships.”

He urged the Indian government to intervene swiftly. “The Indian government must set up a mechanism to resolve this issue amicably while taking care of its tech population and skilled workers who have served America for so long,” Reddy emphasized.

### Details of the H-1B Visa Fee

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) clarified that the $100,000 fee will apply **only to new applicants** submitting petitions from September 21 onwards. Petitions submitted before this date are exempt from the fee.

Joseph B. Edlow, Director of USCIS, noted in a memorandum that the proclamation does not affect beneficiaries of petitions filed before the effective date, nor does it impact currently approved petitions.

### Official Confirmation from White House

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also confirmed the specifics regarding the fee. She clarified that the fee is a one-time charge applicable **only to new H-1B visas** and does not apply to renewals or current visa holders. Additionally, H-1B visa holders residing outside the United States will not be required to pay this fee.

The order has sparked significant concern among Indian tech workers and the governments on both sides, highlighting the need for dialogue to protect the interests of skilled professionals contributing to the US economy.
