Brock Lesnar Reunites With WWE Legend During Wrestlepalooza

WWE Wrestlepalooza Kicks Off with John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar

WWE Wrestlepalooza began with a marquee match between John Cena and Brock Lesnar, reigniting one of wrestling’s most intense rivalries. The feud was renewed when Lesnar made his unexpected return to WWE at the conclusion of SummerSlam 2025. In a shocking moment, Lesnar delivered an F-5 to Cena, setting the stage for their highly anticipated singles match during WWE’s debut Premium Live Event (PLE) on ESPN.

After WWE ring announcer Alicia Taylor introduced Cena, fans were surprised to hear a familiar voice. Paul Heyman revealed himself as Lesnar’s advocate for the first time since “The Oracle” aligned with Roman Reigns and The Bloodline. Heyman’s reunion with Lesnar had been teased earlier during a backstage segment on Friday’s episode of SmackDown.

The match was a brutal contest that ultimately saw Lesnar pin Cena following a series of devastating F-5 finishers. However, the action didn’t end there. After the bout, Lesnar attacked the in-ring official and then targeted his old rival once again with yet another punishing F-5.

History Between Brock Lesnar and John Cena

Lesnar and Cena first crossed paths back in 2002. At that time, Lesnar was heralded as WWE’s “Next Big Thing,” while Cena was still years away from being considered a major player. The two faced off in a championship match in 2003, where Lesnar successfully retained the WWE Championship.

Cena welcomed Lesnar back to WWE in 2012 during the main event of WWE Extreme Rules. In Lesnar’s first match back with the top wrestling company in eight years, he fell short against Cena. However, Lesnar got his revenge two years later with a dominant victory at SummerSlam 2014. That match came just months after Lesnar shocked WWE fans by ending The Undertaker’s legendary WrestleMania winning streak.

Cena’s Final WWE Appearances

With his match at WWE Wrestlepalooza now behind him, John Cena has five more appearances before his in-ring career concludes. Cena is scheduled to appear at the Crown Jewel event on October 11. WWE has also confirmed his presence for two episodes of Monday Night Raw in November.

Cena’s WWE career will ultimately culminate with appearances at Survivor Series and the December 13 episode of Saturday Night’s Main Event.
