**Assam Chief Minister Announces Inquiry into Singer Zubeen Garg’s Death**

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday announced that the government will conduct a thorough inquiry into the death of renowned singer Zubeen Garg. The veteran artist, also known as Ya Ali, tragically passed away in a freak scuba diving accident in Singapore on Friday, September 19. He was 52 years old.

The news of Zubeen Garg’s death was confirmed by Assam Cabinet Minister Ashok Singhal on social media Friday afternoon, sending shockwaves throughout the music fraternity and his fans.

Following the suspicious circumstances surrounding the singer’s death, an FIR has been lodged against North East India Festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta and Zubeen’s manager, Siddhartha Sharma, at the Morigaon police station, according to PTI reports.

Speaking to the media, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Assam Police will probe the death of Zubeen Garg. Both Mahanta and Sharma, along with those who were with the singer in his last moments, will be interrogated.” He also mentioned, “There are reports that the singer was taken to a party the night before his death, and we are trying to verify the truth of these reports,” as cited by PTI.

Zubeen Garg suffered a critical scuba diving accident in Singapore. The Singapore police rescued him from the sea and immediately rushed him to a local hospital, where doctors provided emergency care in the ICU and closely monitored his condition.

The singer had travelled to Singapore to perform at the Northeast Festival, which was scheduled for the day following the accident.

Singaporean authorities have launched their own investigation into the incident. The Chief Minister added, “As the place of occurrence is outside India, we will receive any criminal investigation details from that country. If there was any wrongful intent involved in bringing him from Assam, we will investigate that aspect on the state level.”

He assured that the state government will conduct an impartial inquiry and facilitate anyone willing to provide information or serve as a witness. “The matter should become absolutely clear to the people of Assam so that nothing remains hidden about the popular singer’s death,” the Chief Minister emphasized.
