E-Waste Management Exhibition to Raise Awareness in Mumbai
The BMC Education Department, in collaboration with Electrofine Recycling Pvt. Ltd., is organizing an E-Waste Management Exhibition on Friday, September 19, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at N. M. Joshi School, Curry Road. The exhibition aims to raise awareness about electronic waste by showcasing innovative student projects focused on e-waste reuse, recycling, and responsible disposal.
Over the past four months, the BMC and Electrofine Recycling Pvt. Ltd. have successfully collected and recycled 15,000 kg of e-waste across Mumbai, emphasizing the city’s commitment to environmentally sustainable practices.
Student-Led Initiatives
Students from various municipal schools will present a range of projects, models, and initiatives centered around the themes of reuse, recycling, and responsible management of electronic waste. These student-led projects are designed to inspire citizens to adopt eco-friendly habits and foster a sense of responsible citizenship.
“Through practical, hands-on learning, students are gaining valuable experience while raising awareness about the environmental impact of electronic waste,” said an official.
E-Waste Collection Drive
Since June, Electrofine Recycling Pvt. Ltd., BMC’s official e-waste partner, has been actively collecting and safely disposing of electronic items such as mobile phones, chargers, laptops, tablets, TVs, refrigerators, earphones, and modems. E-waste collection extends to residential societies, schools, corporate offices, government establishments, small businesses, and more.
“Registered establishments receive scheduled pickups and a small payment depending on the e-waste category,” a civic official stated.
